Yan Moh has been a photographer since leaving college in 1990. He began his career shooting fashion for agencies and magazines throughout the UK. After 15 years in the fashion industry he turned to teaching and was the trainer for a UK government program for over two years. Although his main focus is his photography, a selected few students are excepted for a yearly training program.
His main focus now is portraiture, weddings and events, but anything that involves people or animals hold a strong interest to him. Weddings have always been a love of his as it incorporates so many techniques that he enjoys. From macro photography to still life and through to formal portraiture and photojournalistic styles, weddings provide a tremendous and exciting challenge.
Now living in Southern Spain, Yan Moh has worked all over the world including the US, Asia and Africa as well as most of Europe. Spain has always been close to his heart and the light is fantastic for all types of imagery. If you are drawing with light it is advantageous to have great light.
Yan Moh is also a master printer and a professional image editor, skills he has gained over his many years in the business. His simple ethic is that all photographs have to be art otherwise they are just pictures or fancy Xerox copies. Tools are just tools. His equipment changes as his approach changes and he is mainly a Canon and Fuji shooter, although he has no prejudice even if you want to shoot with a smartphone as long as that is the tool required to create your vision.
In his own words, “A camera is just a hammer and the lens is just the nail, without the carpenter that is all they will ever be”.
